Isn’t it pretty much a dream come true to have all of the pizza places in one place, at one time? How about being able to voice your opinion about what you think is the best place to grab that yummy slice around town?
Well, that’s what Ferris State PR did. “Za Best of Za Best” was Ferris State PR’s first big fundraiser of the year, and it went better than anyone could have ever imagined. During this event, students, faculty/staff and community members were encouraged to come and pay $5 to taste all of the pizza places. Among the pizza places that participated in this event were Lucky Louie’s, Pizza King, Jet’s Pizza, Mancinos, Ferris State Dining Services, and Pizza Hut.
The crowning champions of this event were Jet’s pizza with an overwhelming 61 votes out of 182. Along with the pizza tasting contest, participants were also able to play games such as pizza pong and pin the hashtag on the tweet!
“It was a fun event, and very interactive,” said Dylan Carpenter, a junior that participated in the pizza tasting competition.
During the time of the event, about 290 people came through and tasted the different pizzas. Ferris State PR raised $1,428 during their event. Those proceeds will be going to help assist Ferris State PR students with going to the National Conference in Washington DC.
Along with helping send students to the capitol, 15 percent of the proceeds went to Ferris State PR’s charity organization, Our Brother’s Keeper. This organization is a local homeless shelter that provides housing and food to people in need during the frigid winter months.
“I am so proud of all of the PR Peeps,” said Kaitlyn Baase, president of Ferris State PRSSA. “Everyone came together and we were able to put on such an amazing event.“
After months of planning, and hard work from all of the members in PRSSA, the event turned out to be a huge success, and they are looking to make it an annual event.
