While thinking about an industry topic to write about, it came to me that why don’t I just write about blogs! Hey, someone’s gotta do it! Blogs are interesting, engaging, and have become a huge trend in PR. So why not blog about blogs for a change!
Blogs, short for weblogs, are a phenomenon that shows just how powerful and influential the Internet has become as a communication vehicle. Millions of blogs are out there on the good ‘ole World Wide Web and there are millions of views and comments to go along with them.
There is a lot of variety of blogs; anywhere from political, fashion, entertainment, food, exercise, and the list goes on and on. But they are also becoming an important communication tool for public relations. Many companies such as McDonalds and Google produce in-house blogs that report on happenings at the company. These blogs allow company employees, including CEOs and marketers, to post messages updating company developments and serve as a useful PR tool.
I not only blog for Ferris State PR, but I also have a blog on a site called luuux.com which is a site anyone can become a member of and can blog in different “universes” as they call it which are the different categories your blog would fall under. Such as beauty, food, fashion, technology, entertainment, and more. It’s a great site to connect and share with other bloggers!
I think one of the best parts of blogs for a company and for PR professionals especially, is the quick creation and convenient updating of blogs. And that in can reach many people. There are even several free blog services available making the creation of a blog as easy as writing a word-processing document.
Blogs are taking over the world. Okay, I wouldn’t go that far, but they are definitely on the top tier of the Internet world! Blogs aren’t going out of style anytime soon, they’re just going to keep getting trendier! 😉
