This semester Alexa Donakowski decided to take on the client Ferris State Colleges Against Cancer (CAC). She recruited Tarah Bourke, Natalie Bycraft, Veronica Dodd, and Jake Lipovski to help her with this job. CAC is now one of Ferris State PRSSA’s biggest clients.
These five students have had their hands full this fall semester. In these short four months, they have created an official Ferris State CAC logo, designed flyers, posters and t-shirts, made numerous press releases for the Pioneer and were featured in the Torch for CAC’s Monster Dash 5K and Bra Decorating Contest. Ferris State PR was declared the winner of the Bra Decorating Contest.
The major events this semester were the Monster Dash 5K and the Great American Smoke Out. The team created pluggers, posters, and social media posts for the both events. They also designed t-shirts for the Monster Dash 5K. For both events, a campus wide email was sent out and a Facebook event was created. The team even contacted Bulldog radio and was mentioned many times throughout the semester for CAC’s events.
Besides traditional PR tactics, the PR group also took over CAC’s social media. The only form of social media CAC had was a Facebook Page with 63 “likes”. Since taking over their social media, that amount has more than doubled. They have also launched an official blog and created a Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook group for CAC.
Next semester is even more hectic for the team but they couldn’t be more excited. The team plans to increase their presence in social media by creating a phone app for their client. The main events next semester include Relay for Life (the theme is Movies and TV shows) and Ferris State’s first purple glove video. Needless to say, they’re going to need an extra supply of baked goods to get them through next semester’s shenanigans.
