Avery Larson, a senior in the Public Relations program, is running for Homecoming Queen. Avery was elected by her sorority, Alpha Sigma Tau to run in the campaign. Ferris State PRSSA is also sponsoring her during her campaign
“The one thing I love about campaigning is that you just don’t campaign for two weeks, you should have been campaigning your whole college career, and I have,” said Avery.
During her four years on campus, Larson has been very involved in the following:
-Ferris State Cross Country Team
-Alpha Sigma Tau (PR and Alumnae Liaison Chair)
-PRSSA Member (Secretary and Chapter Development)
-Student Fashion Alliance (Publicist)
-Panhellenic Council (Head Recruitment Director)
-Student Government (PR Chair)
-Summer Orientation Leader 2011
-Student Leadership & Activities Office Community Outreach Professional Trainee (2011)
-Student Leadership & Activities Office (Public Relations Professional Trainee)
-SocialFest (Student Representative)
“From Greek life to PRSSA to Student Leadership and Activities, I feel as though I’ve created a positive image of myself on campus and that’s what my goal was,” Larson said.
Larson plans on working for Social Media Energy once she graduates, which is located in Denver, CO.
Larson has spent most of her campaign by gathering supporters through a Facebook page and event. You can also find Avery out in the campus quad handing out flyers and organizing games for donations towards United Way.
“Homecoming is one of my favorite experiences at Ferris. I love the student, community and alumni involvement. The alumni office does an excellent job at reaching out to their alum and getting tons to show up for homecoming weekend!”
We will find out who is crowned Homecoming King and Queen on Saturday, Oct. 13 during the Ferris State vs. Hillsdale Homecoming football game during halftime. Good luck, Avery!
